FOSTERING PETS IN YOUR HOME
Fostering provides our cats and dogs a temporary home for a short time. A foster parent is an important role at the shelter as they allow our animals to receive the extra attention they deserve and help acclimate them back to life in a home environment.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A FOSTER PARENT?
Foster parents must fill out a Foster Application and be approved which entails a background check, vet check, property check, and an in home inspection.
WHAT TYPES OF FOSTERING ARE OFFERED?
Kittens or puppies up to 8 weeks of age do best in a home environment. Adult cats and dogs who have been at the shelter for a long period of time or don't do well in a kennel would also be good candidates for foster care.
If you are interested in becoming a foster parent, please fill out our application. PLEASE NOTE: Due to regulations set by the State of Iowa, a foster home is limited to 6 inside cats and/or dogs. This would include your resident animal(s) and any fosters that may be placed with you.
