The mission of the Almost Home shall be to: Act as a temporary refuge for lost, unwanted and abandoned cats and dogs; Educate the community about responsible pet ownership, respect and compassionate care of all living things; and Find forever homes for every pet lucky enough to find themselves “almost home.”

Our Mission
The Humane Society of North Central Iowa DBA Almost Home has been in the Fort Dodge, IA community since 1984. We are a limited intake (“no kill”) facility servicing North Central Iowa. We promote spaying and neutering your pets and humane education. Being a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we receive no funding from the city or state, we operate solely on your generous donations.
